BAPV

Building Attached Photovoltaic (BAPV) refers to a PV system that is simply attached to the building. The component on the building uses the ordinary solar module which mounted on the building through the bracket. Its main function is to generate electricity with grid-connected or off-grid systems.

BIPV

Building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) is photovoltaic materials that are integrated into the architectural technology and used to replace conventional building materials in parts of the building envelope. They are increasingly being incorporated into the construction of new buildings as a principal or ancillary source of electrical power such as photovoltaic solar panels, the rooftop of photovoltaic panels, or photovoltaic curtain wall for photovoltaic power generation with grid-connected or off-grid system. BIPV is different from the building attached photovoltaic (BAPV).

BIPV can be divided into two categories: one is the PV array and building combination. By this way, the PV array is attached to the building and the building acts as a photovoltaic array carrier to support it. The other is the PV array and building integration. The PV array serves as building materials and is an integral part of building. Without using extra floor space, BIPV is the best installation and widely adopted in the city. The PV array and the building integration is an advanced form of BIPV. With higher requirement on PV module, the module serves the dual functions of photovoltaic power generation and construction requirements.

The grid-connected PV projects of Taikoo (Xiamen) Aircraft Engineering training bases have involved a total of 11 buildings with a building area of 79568.8 square meters. The solar energy PV systems are installed on rooftops to provide round-the-clock power supply for illumination, livelihood and various equipment. All indoor and outdoor lighting fixtures use LED energy saving lamps. A total of 1761 pcs of 180WP/36V monocrystaline silicon solar cells and 660 pcs of 90WP/100V amorphous silicon solar cells have been installed. The grid-connected power generation system is capable of generating 630,000kWh of electricity annually. With a service life up to 25 years, the system is capable of saving about 210 tons of standard coal each year to cut down carbon dioxide emission by about 550 tons, sulfur dioxide emissions by about 1.8 tons and nitric oxide emissions by about 1.55 tons. It is capable of achieving social, environmental and economic beneficial results.
